
Often the producers would come to us, asking us to locate a shot of a character looking wistful or sad or pouring a drink – whatever was needed to fill in the story they were telling. I was working as a logger, an entry level position that required me to comb through raw footage, transcribe interviews, and provide detailed descriptions of the action. I have to admit I was pretty scandalized when I first saw the making of reality TV up close.
